The universe has an infinite supply of creative magic. 🌌

Yet so many of us wake up feeling like we’re running on empty.

That scarcity mindset can feel like a heavy cloud following us around, whispering that there’s never enough – enough money, enough time, enough opportunities, enough *everything*.

Cultivating an abundance mindset is about money, sure, but it’s also about recognizing the infinite possibilities available to us as creatives.

And here’s the magical truth I’ve discovered: abundance isn’t something that happens *to* us – it’s something we cultivate *within* us, one small practice at a time.

As artists, we’re actually uniquely positioned to tap into this endless flow of abundance, because creativity itself is an infinite resource that only grows when we share it. Let’s explore how to nurture this energy that can transform not just your art, but your entire creative journey. ✨

Understanding Abundance Mindset as an Artist

As you develop your prosperity consciousness, you’ll notice opportunities everywhere – often in the most unexpected places. 🤗 Let’s get a little bit more specific.

Moving Beyond Financial Definitions

When most people think of abundance, their mind immediately jumps to financial wealth. And while yes, financial abundance is wonderful (and something I absolutely want for you!), true abundance encompasses so much more, especially when it comes to our creative lives.

Think about those moments when creativity flows through you effortlessly, when ideas spark like fairy lights in your mind, when you’re so immersed in your art that time seems to dissolve.

That’s abundance in its purest form – and it’s available to you right now, regardless of your bank account balance.

Abundance shows up as:

  • The inspiration that strikes while you’re doing dishes
  • The friend who believes in your vision before you fully do
  • The perfect song coming on just when you needed it
  • The courage to try something new in your art
  • The peace of knowing you’re exactly where you need to be
  • The Cozy Girl Job that brings in recurring income so you can focus on your creativity and not stressing about paying rent

Hopefully, this helps you understand that abundance comes in so many forms, including finances, creativity, friendships.

The Connection Between Creativity and an Abundance Mindset

Here’s something beautiful I’ve noticed: creativity and abundance share the same magical quality – they both multiply when shared.

Unlike physical resources that deplete when divided, creative energy actually grows stronger when we collaborate, share, and celebrate together.

These wealth mindset techniques go beyond traditional financial advice to nurture true abundance, which is what I want you to understand when it comes to your creative journey.

Think about it: when you teach someone a technique you’ve mastered, does your own skill diminish? When you share your art with the world, does your creative well run dry? Of course not!

If anything, these acts of sharing often spark new ideas and connections you never would have discovered alone. ✨

Daily Practices for Having an Abundant Mindset

Morning Rituals for Abundance

The way we start our day sets the tone for everything that follows. Instead of immediately checking social media (hello, comparison trap), try creating a morning ritual that nurtures abundance. These simple practices help strengthen your abundance mindset over time.

Start with simple abundance affirmations that resonate with your artistic journey. Light a candle and set an intention for the day. Take three deep breaths and imagine drawing in creative energy with each inhale. Write down three things you’re excited to create or experience today.

Incorporate these abundance meditation practices into your routine, even if it’s just for five minutes. This doesn’t have to be elaborate – even a brief intentional practice can shift your entire day’s energy.

Some things I do:

♥️ Sit under the red light lamp
💫 Plan out my day (even in bed!)
👣 Go to the gym (& then sauna time after!)

Gratitude as a Creative Practice

Gratitude might sound cliche, but it’s actually a powerful tool for rewiring our brains toward abundance. The key is making it specific to your creative journey, expressing gratitude for abundance in all its forms.

Here’s what I mean. Instead of just saying, “I’m grateful!” try to be a little more specific:

  • “I’m grateful for this cozy corner of my apartment where I can spread out my art supplies and create without judgment.”
  • “Thank you for these 30 minutes before work where I can write in peace with my morning coffee.”
  • I appreciate having enough money to buy these new supplies (brushes, camera, canvas, software) that make my work feel more professional.
  • “I’m grateful for my day job that funds my artistic dreams while I build my creative career.”
  • “Thank you for this creative block — it’s teaching me patience and pushing me to try new approaches, as whatever I’m doing right now is not working (and that’s okay).”
  • “I appreciate having internet access that connects me with other artists and endless inspiration!”
  • “I’m grateful for my hands/body that allow me to bring my visions to life.”
  • “Thank you for this rejection letter – it means I was brave enough to put my work out there. Not everyone would do that.”

Journaling for Abundance

Writing regularly helps reinforce your abundance mindset through conscious reflection. Your journal can become a magical tool for cultivating abundance, and the best part? It does not (and should not) be pretty, curated, or meant for eyes other than your own.

I have to admit this is something I have to be better at! Journaling has always been a helpful tool in my creative growth — it’s just about doing it.

I love The Artist’s Way’s morning pages, which could be a great way to start the day. You could also try these abundance journal prompts to deepen your practice to reflect on the day:

  • “Today, I felt most abundant when…”
  • “I’m creating space for more…”
  • “I choose to see abundance in…”
  • “I’m grateful for my ability to…”
  • “Today’s creative win was…”

Creating an Abundant Environment

Designing a Space That Feels *Rich*

Your physical space has a huge impact on your abundance mindset.

But contrary to what you might be thinking, you don’t need expensive things to create a space that feels abundant! It’s all about thoughtful curation and energy.

The biggest way I practice positive money thinking through interior design is by thrifting! Facebook Marketplace, Habitat for Humanity Restore, and Goodwill are my BFFs, because I get to focus on the story of the piece and how it fits into my home’s “story.”

If you’re a newbie to touching interior design when it comes to your home, try these first few tips:

  • Clear clutter to make space for new opportunities — read Marie Kondo’s two books below for the best way to do this!
  • Display items that inspire creativity
  • Use colors that energize and inspire you — is it neutrals, deep colors, bright colors, patterns, a combination?

Surrounding Yourself with Inspiring People

We are the sum total of the 6 people we spend the most time with. Think about it right now — who do you surround yourself with? Do you aspire to be them?

This isn’t about cutting people out of your life (though sometimes that natural separation happens as you grow). Instead, it’s about being intentional with your creative ecosystem. Think of it like tending a garden – you want to plant yourself where you can flourish, right? And certain things won’t help you grow.

If you’re looking to audit your community and relationships a bit, think about the relationships you have. Do they…

  • Celebrate your success?
  • Understand your creative journey?
  • Share (instead of gatekeep) resources and opportunities?
  • Believe in your vision?

Consuming Content That Feeds Your Soul

Just like we are what we eat, we become what we consume digitally. The images, words, and energy we let into our creative space shape our mindset in ways we don’t always consciously realize.

What kind of content makes your artistic soul bloom? What inspires you to create rather than compare? What fills your creative well instead of draining it?

You might want to take time to audit your following list – spend 15 minutes scrolling through who you follow and ask yourself some important questions:

♡ Does seeing their content make you feel inspired or drained?
♡ Do they share valuable insights or just highlight reels?
♡ Would you want to have tea with this person and hear their story?
♡ Does their content align with where you want to go in your creative journey?

The goal isn’t to never see challenging content – it’s to create a nourishing baseline that helps you maintain an abundant mindset even when faced with obstacles.

Every image, word, and sound you consume is either feeding or depleting your abundant mindset — choose wisely, sweet friend. ✨

Transforming Scarcity Triggers

Identifying Scarcity Thoughts

Recognize limiting beliefs about money when they arise — because they all happen!

First, we need to recognize these thoughts when they appear. Sometimes it’s not these physical words, but the concept manifested into feelings of being unmotivated, uninspired, and drained.

  • “There’s not enough room for me in this industry.”
  • “All the good ideas are taken.”
  • “I’m too late/too old/too inexperienced.”
  • “I’ll never be as successful as [other artist].”
  • “I don’t have enough [time/money/skills] to succeed.”

This scarcity mindset transformation takes time and patience. It’s okay and totally normal to feel this way. The important part is to note when you’re feeling them, acknowledge that feeling, and know that they’re just thoughts. Not your reality or destiny.

Reframing Comparison into Inspiration

When you see another artist succeeding, your first instinct might be to curl up and question your own journey. I get it – I’ve been there too, scrolling through Instagram and feeling that heavy weight in my chest seeing others living what feels like my dream life.

But here’s the magical shift that changed everything for me: every success story you see is actually the universe showing you what’s possible.

That artist that makes you dream of having a career just like theirs? They started exactly where you are (even if not literally). They’ve faced the same doubts, the same fears, the same late nights wondering if they were on the right path, even if the path looked different than yours.

When you catch yourself falling into comparison, send that artist a genuine compliment. If you know them personally, you can send a text or DM. If you don’t, send it to the universe or tell someone else that compliment about them.

Watch how this small act transforms your energy from scarcity to abundance. It’s amazing how beautiful this works. Suddenly, you’re not an outsider looking in – you’re part of a beautiful conversation between artists supporting each other’s dreams. 💫

Finding Abundance in “Not Enough” Moments

Those “not enough” moments can feel like heavy clouds blocking your creative sunlight. But just like real clouds, they’re temporary and don’t actually change the sun’s existence!

When “I don’t have enough time” creeps into your thoughts, pause and take a deep breath. Every artist throughout history has worked within the same 24 hours.

The important part is being intentional with the time you have. Maybe that means turning your morning coffee ritual into a 15-minute sketching session, or transforming your commute into a mobile writing studio. Time expands when we approach it with intention rather than scarcity.

Your “not good enough” is someone else’s “I wish I could do that.”

Every single day you create, practice, or even just think about your art, you’re growing. Those messy first drafts, the “failed” attempts, the pieces you’re not quite ready to share – they’re all essential steps on your path to mastery.

And when you find yourself thinking “there’s too much competition,” let’s reframe that completely. Your voice, your perspective, your unique way of seeing the world – these aren’t just different from everyone else’s, they’re necessary.

Think about your favorite artists – they probably don’t create exactly the same type of work, right? Yet you love them all for different reasons.

That’s because there’s room for every authentic voice. The world needs your particular blend of experiences, perspectives, and creativity. No one else can offer quite what you can.

Abundance isn’t just about having more, but about recognizing and appreciating the richness that already exists in your creative journey. Every “not enough” thought is an invitation to see things differently, to find the hidden gems in your current situation, and to trust that you’re exactly where you need to be on your path to becoming the artist you’re meant to be. ✨

Living Your Abundant Artist Life

Making Decisions from Abundance

Every creative decision is an opportunity to practice abundance thinking. Before making choices about your art, your career, or your creative investments, pause and check in with yourself.

Are you choosing from a place of fear and scarcity, or from love and possibility? For instance, if you’re hesitating to share your work, ask yourself what would change if you knew you couldn’t fail. If you’re stuck on a creative project, approach it with curiosity rather than judgment.

Often, the most beautiful opportunities, the biggest money mindset shifts, the biggest a-ha moments, arise when we open ourselves to possibilities we hadn’t considered before.

Celebrating Others’ Success

We already talked about this before, but I’m saying it again:

Success 👏 isn’t 👏 a 👏 limited 👏 resource.

When another artist lands their dream collaboration, sells out their collection, or reaches a milestone you’re dreaming of, it’s actually expanding the possibilities for all artists.

Their success proves that there are people who deeply value art, who are willing to invest in creativity, and who are eager to support artists. Instead of seeing their win as your loss, let it energize and inspire you.

Their artistic journey is proof that your dreams are possible too.
