You’re sitting in your fav cafe. Sippin’ something warm and delish. Not a care in the world.
Well, you have your laptop in front of you, but somehow, the space around is just beckoning you to keep going. 🍵
The creativity is flowing, you’re hearing the gentle hum of the convos around you, and you have this calm peace about you that everyone — including you — is productive peaceful.
The gentle hum of conversation, the soft clink of cups, the warm glow of twinkle lights — these cozy cafe vibes create the perfect creative cocoon where your artistic soul feels at home.
But what if you could capture that same enchanting energy in your own space? What if every creative session could feel like those precious cafe moments where ideas spark and flow like perfectly steamed almond milk in your favorite herbal tea (or coffee, if you’re a caffeinated queen)?
Here’s how to bring the magic of cafecore into your artistic practice — fit with intentional coziness, kisses of pretty interior design, and splashes of romanticized rituals.
Let’s be cozy and productive. ✨
Imagine the most inspiring cafe you’ve ever visited. That perfect blend of cozy and productive, where everything from the lighting to the gentle background music seems designed to nurture your creativity.
The collective feeling of other people working on projects right along with you (but, you know, not with with you).
The cafecore aesthetic is a lifestyle that celebrates the art of slow, collective, cozy living while nurturing your creative spirit.
Unlike its nearby cousin cottagecore (which leans heavily into pastoral vibes), cafecore embraces urban coziness with a dash of intellectual, focused charm.
Think warm wood tones, the soft glow of Edison bulbs, and the gentle steam rising from your favorite mug as you feel the energy of others working with you.
As artists, we’re naturally sensitive to our environment. Our surroundings can either amplify our creativity or dampen it like a wet blanket on a spark. ⚡️
The cafe lifestyle creates the perfect balance of stimulation and comfort that our artistic souls crave.
Now you might be thinking — what does cafecore mean when it comes to actually practicing my art? Is it the way I design my home? The way I dress? The overall vibe I carry when I’m working?
YES. 😉
Cafecore can be as much or as little of that as you want. I’d love for you to read this, take with it what you love, and leave the rest.
Cafe culture for creatives can be whatever you want and need it to be for your artist to thrive.

Here’s something fascinating: research shows that moderate ambient noise (around 70 decibels, or the level of a typical cafe) actually enhances creative cognition.
It’s just enough background activity to wake up your brain without overwhelming it – one of the key reasons behind coffee shop productivity.
The psychological comfort of being in a beautiful, intentionally designed space helps quiet those inner critics and performance anxieties that so often plague us as artists.
When we feel held and supported by our environment, we’re more likely to take creative risks and explore new artistic territories.
Also, the sheer fact that other people are also working on projects that inspire them (hopefully?). LOVE IT.
And guess what? You can bring all of this energy around with you, whether in the way you dress or the way you curate your home.
We’re going to mostly focus on how you bring a cafecore design and energy to when you’re creatively working at home — but you can apply this to basically any part of your life.
Firstly, let’s talk about how we can bring tangible elements of a cafecore vibe into your home (if you so fancy that aesthetic).
The heart of any cafecore space is, naturally, where the magic brewing happens.
Caffeine aside, this is all about ritualizing yummy drinks, signaling to your creative spirit that it’s time to work!
Here are some of the basics:
This is, symbolically, your little altar, dedicated to creative productivity.
There’s a reason cafes often use multiple sources of gentle lighting – it creates depth and atmosphere that harsh overhead lights simply can’t match!
Layer your lighting with:
Twinkle lights are an example of accent lighting, one of the 3 different types of lighting (the other being ambient and task).
The goal is to create pools of gentle light that make your creative cafe workspace feel like it’s glowing with possibility.
Natural materials help ground our creative energy while keeping the space feeling light and airy (and cafecore-like, of c!) Incorporate:
These elements help create a connection to the earth while maintaining that elevated cafe aesthetic we’re after. Love that for you! ☕️
Now that you know the aesthetic you can bring into your home (if you so desire), here are some of the tools to ✨cafecore your life✨, if you will.
Let’s talk about some specific tools that can elevate your cafecore space from lovely to absolutely magical:
VISP
This is a glass water bottle that has a frother built into the cap and it’s so convenient and I love it! If you’re cafecore-ing in your home and a running into a meeting, this is perfect for not having to feverishly shake and shake and shake as you’re sprinting to your computer.
Their natural candles (literally — all natural. No weirdness fragrances) create the perfect ambient glow and subtle scent.
Plus, they’re sustainable and support local beekeepers – a win for your space and the planet. And such an essential for a cozy, cafe-esque, healthy space.
LOVE this totally leak-proof tumblr. Of course it’s great for on-the-go (you know, when you’re literally going to cafes!) but I use it all around the house because it legit matches my walls. Soooo many cute matte colors.
This is for those who want to totalllyyyy level-up their cafecore space.
Growing your own herbs for tea adds a whole new dimension of magic to your creative routine. Plus, there’s something so inspiring about watching things grow while you create!
I absolutely love watching mine and being able to make my own tea 🥹 Because what is more cafecore than that?!
Now let’s get into how to bring this cafe essence anywhere you go!
Here’s a revolutionary idea: develop an artist cafe routine by using different spaces for different types of work. I’ve recently had to start doing this because I find myself never stopping the work.
When you have the luxury of being able to get any work done at home, you have to learn how to create healthy boundaries for it.
What I started doing: keeping my Cozy Girl Job tasks for actual cafe or library visits or strictly in my home office, and then I can work on my creative work (Violet Gaze) anywhere.
This helps create a mental boundary between your different work modes and makes both spaces feel more intentional.

The sensory experience of your space is just as important as how it looks!
We mentioned this, but I want to go a level deeper in really creating a ritual of creating a musical and scent-driven experience for you.
Is it that you light your candle once you start certain work? You listen to brain-wave music whenever you’re working on your Cozy Girl Job?
Create a playlist for different days or types of work?! The opportunities are endless.
Physical comfort is crucial for maintaining creative flow and an essential part of a cafecore vibe. 💤
Build your cozy toolkit with a collective of soft throws for different seasons, a small space heater for chiller corners, your fav oversized sweater, and comfy seating that supports long-term creative sessions.
Basically, the only thing you don’t have when you’re at home are the other people. That energy of the people around you, doing their thing.
There is a little solution to that if you want to bring that energy to your home — it’s called body-doubling.
It’s basically where you hop on a creative co-working session online, where you check in and the beginning of the session, and work on-camera with a bunch of other people.
Flow.club is a great app if you want to explore this!
